- Topic #1: Reconstruction
- Topic #2: Historical Linguistics
This paper is the first part of the complex comparative research of systems of personal pronouns and person markers in Benue‑Congo languages. It aims at conducting a detailed analysis of the systems of person marking in Bantu and Bantoid languages, and reconstructing the Proto‑Bantoid system of person marking, a necessary step for achieving the Proto-Benue-Congo reconstruction. This will cover both the personal pronouns, and verbal and nominal person affixes. Existing hypotheses will be verified and new ones will be proposed for the ways of transformation of the original person marking system into the systems of the present‑day languages of the family.
