The aim of this paper is to present some data from the Uwi variant of Ikposo that lead to the hypothesis that a comitative personal pronoun is beginning to grammaticalize to a marker of causation on the verb. At present this marker occurs in different constructions where it cannot be analyzed as a pronoun anymore – some simple predicates, serial verbs. Syntactic and semantic characteristics will be considered such as the presence of an object, animate or inanimate, plural agreement, and verbal semantics. The age of the speakers will be considered too. But some questions remain and more data is still needed in order to have a better picture of that marker. The issues are placed in a typological context.
