Verb derivation in yasa language is a result of combination of three morphemes i.e. an
infinitive prefix, a verb root and a suffix which has some meaning properties. Of the three
morphemes, only affixes undergo changes as they are affected by phonological processes
such as epenthesis, vowel elision, tone grounding and a complete assimilation process
which can be likened to vowel harmony. This article focuses on causative, reciprocative
and passive verb forms because they are productive and have a similar behaviour in the
derivation process. I have for most cases, hypothesized abstract segments at the underlying
level.
