Yasa which is a Coastal Bantu language is spoken in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.
With twelve underlying noun prefixes and about thirty morphs at surface level, this language
has thirteen noun classes arranged in genders of one, two or three classes. One can notice
here, the absence of particular classes for locatives: the so-called categories belong to class 7
and class 9. The adjunction of the noun prefix to the stem entails phonological and
morphologized rules which express the following processes: epenthesis, glide formation,
elision, deletion, assimilation, coalescence, affrication, depalatalization, tone grounding and
tone reduction.
