Nominal compounding in Oti-Volta-Eastern Gur languages is a rich and interesting process of creating words. It offers two types of compounding: completive and qualificative nouns.

A completive noun consists of a sequence ‘completing element’- ‘completed element’ with a possibility of combining two or more lexemes. The lexemes can be only nominal lexemes or combined with a verbal lexeme; the combination goes up to four according to the languages.

A qualificative noun consists of a sequence ‘qualified element’- ‘qualifying element’ with two possibilities: combination of a nominal lexeme with a qualificative verb and combination of two nominal lexemes in which one describes a body part in pejorative connotation.

This study also makes the difference between completive noun compounding and the completive nominal phrase.
